How long does it take to become a voice over talent?

It depends. A mentor acting teacher once said that it takes 20 years to become a GREAT actor. I believe he was correct. And education should never end as a voice talent. That said, some people come to me as newcomers and excel almost immediately as they have an enormous amount of talent and drive to be a great VO business person. Other newcomers might not have the same amount of innate talent and it takes them more time. In reality, I would say to make EXCELLENT money, allow yourself 3 years. That would be realistic for any new business to thrive. There are those people however that start earning money immediately. One of my students quit her full-time job and because a full time VO actor within 4 months after training with me. But that isn't the norm. My students who put their energy into it and want it as a full-time profession, do make money within a few months of studying and making a demo.
